Temple of Skulls and more Confrontation goodies

Hello people!

I have just finished painting a Games Workshop terrain piece to use mainly for my Confrontation games, but Fantasy is also an option lately, mainly because of the awesome Fantasy releases that really got me thinking of revisiting Warhammer Fantasy after all this time.

Here is the finished terrain

Confrontation Mid Nor

Hello everyone!

This summer has been quite busy for me, including the wargaming department. I have decided to take a small break from Games Workshop (with the exception of BloodBool) and try 2 great games, Warzone Ressurection and Rackham's Confrontation.

My latest craze is about an OOP game, sadly no longer available. I have acquired a big Mid Nor army, when the game was still hot but never got the chance of playing with them. Recently a friend of mine, equally with big armies himself, got into the game too and the result was me digging up my old miniatures!

Examining the sculpts from up close once again I must say that they are just gorgeous, especially considering the date that these were sculpted. They could easily be standing today next to the latest releases from the biggest manufacturers out there.

They are also a challenge for me, trying some new techniques and playing with colors I have ages to use.

So here are my latest painted Mid Nor miniatures

applying the Bauhaus Transfers plus... BloodBowl!

Hello everyone!

Continuing my summer vacation, I am putting into work all my projects that have been left behind.

I have got a nice feedback on my Bauhaus Transfer sheet that I posted on my previous post, and I have decided to give you an update on how nice it works on my latest Warzone project, The Grizzly

You can also catch a glimpse on the paintjob. More coming soon! ;)

Another thing I am really excited about lately is BloodBowl. I have played quite a few friendly games with a friend, enough to make me dig out my old Human Team and give them a new facelift. Some of the models had old paintjobs, others were just primed, the Ogre model is Buzzcut from Mantic's Dreadball with a minor alteration of new shoulderpads and of course a new base. I am so in love with this model, I love how dynamic the pose is. I think I am going to keep his name too! :P

The photo is kinda crappy, its a real pain to photograph many models at once. I will try to have better pics soon, as I am also finishing my Chaos team!

I painted the team in the colors of the famous Reikland Reavers, I think it worked pretty well.

As always comments and remarks are more than welcome.

I'm leaving you with some tunes that are stuck in my playlist ever since this album was released! Till next time, take care!!

Warzone Resurrection Bauhaus. WIP army display and Decal Sheet

Hello everyone!

Summer time is here and while everyone is splashing their ways through beaches and islands around Greece, I am still trapped working.

I have managed though to find time to start (yet another) project, this time non Warhammer related.

Back in the day, Warhammer was not the only player in the grimdark future sci fi wargaming market. Warzone was the main competitor and it did pretty well, managing almost to outrun Games Workshop... but it eventually failed, following a series of bad business decisions.

I have a big number of old Warzone minis, mainly due to the fact that I found them cheap over my local game store when the company stopped producing the game. I thought them as a cheap alternative for 40K conversions, and sadly most of these models ended up chopped and slashed in unfortunate conversions.

Lots have passed since then and the news that there was a Kickstarter campaign from Prodos Games planning to reboot the game hit me like lightning. I didn't have the chance to try the game back then, maybe this was the perfect chance to do it now. The Kickstarter went really well and Warzone Resurrection was a reality!

Long story short, I started digging my old Bauhaus miniatures, rebasing them and preparing to test the new rules. I even got my hands on the brand new Grizzly and Max Steiner models, all perfect to get me going for a start.

This is my army so far

My Vulcan Battlesuit conversion, based on the old Target Games model, heavily converted though to match the current rules.
Max Steiner, the brand new model of the Venusian Ranger leader

The almighty Grizzly! Really cool looking model and so easy to assemble

Another view of the Grizzly

And yet another one!

There is a small off scale problem with the Grizzly in my opinion. The doors and the hatches are a tad too small, it still looks awesome though :P

I decided to make things more interesting in the back by adding some stowage and filling some gaps with greenstuff. Still need some filing to do though...

I made some small adjustments to the rest of the model as well, mainly pinning the turrets to the hull to keep them in place!
The other thing that I decided to do with this project was to create my own Bauhaus decal sheet. The prospect of free-handing all the Bauhaus symbols on the models was a bit nightmarish, After some time on Corel and Photoshop, I ended up with this;

It isn't something special but I it will be ok for now. I added some military style numbers and letters to use in vehicles. You can type this in A4 paper in any kind of decal paper. I followed the instructions from here to make mine!

You can download the .cdr file to edit it in Corel Draw here and the .pdf file here

I would love to hear your comments on this project, are there any people out there that play the Warzone reboot? What do you think of my decal sheet? I am open to suggestions on making it better!

Till next time, take care!

New blog design and House Taranis marching to war!

Hello everyone!

Long time no post again but as always real life has a bad habit of messing around with our hobby time :P In the meantime, I got the chance of re-designing the whole site, adding a second column and making it wider to make posts more easy to read and of course creating a brand new banner, with the cute zombie always present! :) I would love to hear what you people think on the new design, and maybe suggest any changes or report any bugs.

Anyways, after a really big waiting period for my Imperial Knight Titan to arrive, I finally managed to get my hands to one of the most amazing kits GW ever produced (I know its a big statement but I feel like saying it, especially after I have been able to see and work with it!). So, I would like to share with you this really big project I am currently working on the past weeks. My house Taranis Imperial Knight Titan!

This is the trickiest part if you want to make your weapons interchangable. This loader kinda bit if glued to place it blocks the magna melta weapon. The only way to avoid this is to cut the bit a little and glue it a bit back like the picture.

Of course magnetizing the weapons was a one way street on this one, can't really decide on the weapons loadout but on the other hand, it was quite easy doing so!

I really like creating elaborate bases as you probably know from my projects so far, especially if I have the space to do so and with this being the largest base GW ever created, I had the space to create a small diorama. My image on this one is the Titan just smashing its way through a building, having left rubble and debris in its path!

With the assembly finished, it was time to put it in the painting booth! I really wanted to have a paint scheme that would get me out of the ordinary yellow and white schemes that I am used doing lately and I also wanted to make something that could be used in 30K battles as well, and House Taranis seemed like the perfect choice with their fluff being based on Mars and totally related to the Mechanicum clan.

House Taranis

So after a good airbrushing session the results are something like this:

Obviously a long way to go yet, but I think we are in a good spot!

So there you go people, I would really love to hear what you think so far!

Death Guard Grave Warden Terminators Showcase

Hello everyone!

I have just finished my Grave Warden Terminators that I had been converting the past few days (check my previous post here for all the details and WIP pictures)

Death Guard Grave Warden Terminators Conversions

Hello everyone!

It has been a quite a while since I have posted anything about my Death Guard project but I have always been keeping a very close eye on everything Forgeworld releases on Horus Heresy. I have therefore decided to change this by completing a project I had in mind for some time now, making a squad of Grave Warden Terminators.

When I initially started creating my Death Guard army, Forgeworld had just released their Mk2 and 4 armor sets, along with some other cool stuff like the Contemptor Dreadnough. At that time there was no army list available to play these miniatures so I had decided on creating an army based on the Space Marines codex. That said, many things had to be changed so as to be compatible with the Space Marines Army list, and one thing that I really wanted to create was a Terminator squad. At that time I really liked playing with Assault Terminators with Thunder Hammers and therefore the result was something like this...

I had converted some old plastic Terminators using bits from various companies (Chapterhouse studios and MaxMini to name a few, check out my original post here ) This was the original state of the models before the conversion.

That was a long time ago. A lot of things have changed since then, Forgeworld has released 3 Horus Heresy books and boy, did the options available have changed too! There was no longer any need for Thunder Hammer Assault terminators in my army, so I have decided to make a (not so small after all) change of the models to something completely different, Grave Wardens.

For those of you not familiar with the unit, Grave Wardens are a Death Guard specialist Terminator squad armed with grenade launcers and a variety of toxic warfare weapons. More on their fluff can be found here. Foegeworld has released a set of very nice models that you can see here . I have decided though to spare me the money and go for a conversion of the already available models I had.

This was the look I was going for converting my own Terminators.
The models have a great feral look with fur pelts and chains hanging from beneath the shoulderpads and this is what I wanted to achieve. I used greenstuff and some chain bits from the Flaggelants sprue and I think the result came out nicely. The combination of the great MaxMini shoulderpads and the fur pelts and chains give a nice result. Next step was to make the torso look a bit beefier and I had the right way to do so. A good friend an fellow moddeler had given me one of his spare bass guitar strings (he is a very talented bass guitar player among other things) quite a long time ago and this was the perfect oppprtunity to use it.

Another thing that I had to take care was the back of the models. Their fluff wants their equipment to be toxic and Forgeworld's models have canisters of phosphus and other toxic warfare ammunition on their backs. I used a variety of bits for that fron cadian flamers to grey knights weaponry.

The other big conversion on the models was the weapons. Grave Wardens' main armament is a specially designed grenade launcher. I created this by using Cadian grenade launchers and terminator assault cannons with the cannon chopped off. The heavy flamer is an old school Terminator heavy flamer and the sergeant has a combi flamer made from a really old Warzone gun and a hand flamer.

Lastly the final touch would be the Death Cloud projectors on the top. This was a rather easy addition, just using bits of plastic rod.

I must say that I really like how these came out. I managed to make some models I would never use, useful again, incorporating some very nice bits from third party manufacturers. I would love to hear what you think as I am prepping these for the painting table.
