New year resolutions

Happy New Year!!... although a little late, I am working hard to make my new year resolutions come true any way I can. So many things going on in my life lately and one of the biggest changes has to do with my beloved hobby itself!

So I recently managed to move to live on my own. That means a lot more personal space for myself and my models :) . That explains my lack of time to get anything finished all this time as I was (and still am) swamped in work and getting things done. But I have managed to get some things into order and I am finally about to make one of my greatest dreams come true, my own personal man-cave! Here is a picture of it so far...

I also haven't shown you the other part of the room, as its still messy as hell :P I recon there should be a couple more days of tiding up and organising stuff untill I am ready to paint or build anything yet... although I know what my first project will be stay tuned! ;)

As it is a trend these days of the year I decided to share again some of the models of 2012 I am mostly happy with ...

Number one on my 2012 list has to be my beloved Caestus Assault Ram. It is my highest rated CoolMiniOrNot model so far, with a mark of  and a feature at the top miniatures of the week, it has been one of the most fun projects last year, and one that really taught me a ton of new stuff, especially about airbrushing!

Number two on that list is definitely my Death Guard Land Raider Barbarus, part of my Pre-Heresy Death guard project, it has been a pleasure to convert and paint, setting the benchmark for the next vehicles to follow!

Here's a small peek...

So that's all from me till now. I know, no new models yet but hopefully I will be able to pull sthg out really soon so keep your eyes peeled ;)

Take care with some late night tunes! Oh and I would love to hear your own New Years resolutions! :)

Pre-Heresy Death Guard Mk1 Land Raider Barbarus

Taking a break from my Imperial fists and all this yellow, I decided to finish some of my Death Guard vehicles, starting with my all time favorite, the old school Mk1 Land Raider.

By the time Forgeworld released all this great preheresy material, I decided to build one of my all time favorite chapters, the Death Guard.

As with all my projects, this started quite a while ago but I'm glad that I find the time eventually to finish off some models, the first one being Captain Garro

I decided to go with a massive weathering adding to the fluff of the Death Guard having equipment that wasn't shiny or clean, but it worked perfectly. Moreover, I wanted to have the feeling of this being an ancient machine of death, seen countless battles.

The model is heavily converted from the original Mk1 Land Raider kit, you can find some WIP pics somewhere in my blog...

I would really like to hear what you think on this one, as this is a test model as well for the rest of the vehicles and of course maybe leave me a vote on CoolMiniOrNot as usual!

As a sidenote to this post, I would like to thank the guys over Bell Of Lost Souls for featuring my Furioso Dreadnought in a great article about the future of CC Dreads on 6th edition

The music of this post is inspired by my endless struggle to produce descent photos of my models :P

The dawn of a new project... Pre-Heresy Death Guard...and my Mk1 Land Raider

Yes... I know... I am a couple of years late to begin a pre-heresy army. It's been quite a while from the Black Library releases and the fad is fading away... there are even quite a few great Death Guard armies out there so I'm not putting anything innovative or original out...

BUT...

...I just LOVE Death Guard... I love their fluff from my origins as a wargamer... I have been playing chaos from the early 3rd ed. just to be able to field plague marines... the idea of making a pre-heresy death guard army buzzes through my head since gw released the atrocity that is the latest chaos marines codex... if I can't field my beloved plague marines as chaos anymore, I will as loyalists ... !

It took me some time. It had to be perfect though... and the biggest problem was the armor. I know there are a lot of pre-heresy armies out there but most of them use the current issue of power armor. I wanted to look and feel 30K ... I wanted mk2 armor ... and the gods of Forgeworld heard my pleads...

The final piece of the puzzle was in place! Now, all my archaic looking vehicles could fit with an equally archaic looking armor. And what best way to begin my project, than my beloved Mk1 Land Raider

I know that this model has a love-hate factor to it. I definitely love it. For many years that was the iconic image of 40K vehicles (at least for my eyes) only to be overthrown by its successor...

I had 2 major problems with this model though. its old age and the numerous layers of paint that has been applied over the 15 years of its existence in my gaming world. Step one was the paint removal. To be honest, I didn't have the best results but it got to a point that could be repainted and I'm satisfied with that. It will feature major weathering anyways so some minor paint remains will blend with that process hopefully...

Step 2 was the conversion job... as I have said in the past, my conversions use a rather large pool of bits that come from an even larger variety of sources. Many of them are recognizable, others are a little more hard to see.. the pics don't help at all, got them with my cellphone sorry. Better pics when painted although I will post some more converted vehicles before I do that! I would be happy to answer to any questions that you may have concerning the bits.

So there you have it, the first step on building an army I always wanted to have! I would love to hear your comments and remarks.

Music choice for today, another great desert rock band...

Till next time...!

Another Land Raider storms in

I have told you that I was preparing another post from my finished models in my Imperial Fists Army and here I am again with another Land Raider, the classic version this time!

This one features more Forgeworld goodness in the form of extra armor and Terminator markings in the doors. I just love these upgrade packs, they give so much flavour to an already great model that the Land Raider is.

Hopefully I'm done with the Land Raiders for the time being and I will focus on finishing more stuff from the army, mainly the Terminators that definately need some love! I have also almost finished my Land Speeder so keep an eye for this little bugger too!

As always please take some time to leave me a vote in CoolMiniOrNot and of course I would love to hear what you think!

Imperial Fists Land Raider Crusader

I finally managed to get some time to take some pictures of my finished Imperial Fists models starting with the Land Raider Crusader. Great model and really fun to paint, I kinda don't like the fact that its the older metal version because the hurricane bolters were a pain to assemble and they don't have any kind of friction holding them in place resulting on a floppy sponson movement every time I try to move the model around, but I really like the side winged scull motif.

The model also features the ForgeWorld Imperial Fists doors and I think that these doors are a must to every Space Marines Vehicle around. I really love the way they transform the model to a shrine!

So I would really like to hear your comments and of course if you have some time to leave me a vote as always on CoolMiniOrNot . Don't forget to keep an eye on my other Land Raider later on this week when I get the chance to take some more pictures!
